The Infomaniac is the founder of LEGO Island, making cameo appearances throughout Mustache Maniacs Film Co. works. He originates from the 1997-2002 video game series LEGO Island.

Physical Description[]

The Infomaniac wears a red vest over a white shirt and white pants, and he also wears a red cap and a white bow tie. His clothing bears the symbol of the Information Center, a lowercase "i" in a circle. He wears large round glasses, and he has a thick white mustache and prominent sideburns.

Characteristics[]

Somewhat forgetful but always helpful, the Infomaniac is the founder of the town on LEGO Island and the owner of the island's information center. He's always eager to help any tourists find their around LEGO Island or Pepper Roni in catching the Brickster. Considering the Information Center his home, he works in the main building during the day, then slips to the center’s underground dock to spend the night in his houseboat.

In Dimension 201, the Infomaniac created five powerful vehicles and then hid them across the LEGO Universe to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. When the Dino Attack begins, he tasked Pepper Brickolini with locating the five vehicles, since they were created for such an occasion.

Before Mustache Maniacs Film Co.[]

The Infomaniac originates from the 1997 LEGO video game LEGO Island and appears in all three games of the series. He is the creator of LEGO Island and the Brickster, and he resides in the Information Center to welcome new players and give them tips on playing the game. Throughout the 2001 sequel LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge, the Infomaniac gives instructions for every minigame, and he can be contacted by Pepper's radio headset to instruct him on his next objective. In Island Xtreme Stunts, the Infomaniac is kidnapped by the Brickster in the game's climax.

Outside of the video games, the Infomaniac was the first LEGO Island character to be released as a physical minifigure, being packaged alongside the original video game as a promotion. He later received an updated minifigure for the 2002 Island Xtreme Stunts tie-in LEGO playsets. Additionally, 2D-GONG from LEGO Monkie Kid appears to be inspired by the Infomaniac's design.

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • The Infomaniac's cameo in Seth Masterson vs. Shark Hoops, in which he says "Green Red Brick You Stay", is a reference to a glitch in the original LEGO Island video game, where the audio would occasionally produce this error. It has since become viral in the LEGO video game community. Since this cameo uses the voice clip directly from LEGO Island, the Infomaniac's original voice actor Patrick Hagan "reprises" the role via archive audio.
  • The Infomaniac's first appearance in a brickfilm is as a non-canonical cameo in Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo, in which he can be seen standing behind a coffin where a civilian is hiding. However, he made his original debut in Alpha Team 2: The Dino Attack, an early story written by Andrew Bermudez, which were later canonized as taking place in Dimension 201. Since "hidden character" cameos are not canonical, the Infomaniac has not yet made his canonical debut in the Official Cinematic Universe.
