Tygurah is a giant tiger that appears in Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo. In the film, it guards the path to the Scorpion Palace. This character originally appeared in LEGO's Orient Expedition line, where it guarded the Sunstone.

Physical Description[]

Tygurah is covered with a thick coat of orange fur, with tufts of white fur highlighting the chest, mouth, and eyes. It also has a long tail, black stripes across its back, pointed ears, a long and flat nose, and sharp teeth. Tygurah, unlike other tigers, walks upright like a human.

Characteristics[]

Tygurah makes his home in the ruins of the Scorpion Village that houses the Scorpion Palace, where he typically feeds on large mammals that he can find. He typically stays away from humans, sleeps in the ruins, and spends most of his time guarding the bridge that leads to the palace.

Before Mustache Maniacs Film Co.[]

Tygurah started out as a character in the LEGO Orient Expedition product line. There, he guarded the shrine of the Sunstone, where Dr. Kilroy encounters this character. In the official online comics, Tygurah falls to his death through the collapsing bridge. According to LEGO Magazine, this character is half-man, half-tiger.

Tygurah only appeared in one set: 7411 Tygurah's Roar. However, the character also appeared in other media, such as Orient Expedition comics, sticker sheets, activity books, an Applebee's kid's menu, and more. At LEGOLAND Windsor, this character appears as a brick sculpture.

Trivia[]

  • When the entire Sunstone sub-plot was cut from Johnny Thunder and the Secret of Marco Polo, the character of Tygurah was also planned to be scrapped, with a suspension bridge leading to the Scorpion Palace instead. When the scene was deemed too similar to entering the Temple of Mt. Everest, the suspension bridge in India was changed to a wood plank bridge, and this character became its guardian.
  • His construction and design is similar to the film's other two monster guardians, Yeti and Jun-Chi.
